Quote that captured me today

“Each reader reads only what is inside herself.  A book is only a sort of optical instrument, which the writer offers to let the reader discover in herself what she would not have found without the aid of a book.” Marcel Proust

This resonated with me in all of the attachment parenting stuff I have been reading.  I believe that perhaps when you are led to read something it is your inner self guiding you to that decision.  You are guided to that tool to help you uncover that part of you that needs to be rediscovered, grown and developed.  This perhaps is the reason why maybe only a part of a book will be read at a time…because you only need a certain part of  the book to bring that part of yourself to the surface.
